Creating a system that combines urban waste management with art, allowing people to reduce waste while creating artwork and addressing vandalism.
Overview
Cleanscape is a sustainable urban waste management solution that integrates art and technology to engage communities. The app aims to transform waste disposal into a positive, creative experience while improving the efficiency of waste management systems in urban environments. By focusing on user engagement, collaboration with local authorities, and promoting sustainability, Cleanscape strives to deliver a seamless user experience that aligns with modern values of environmental consciousness.
Role
As the lead UX designer, my role in this project involved conducting user research, defining user personas, creating wireframes and prototypes, and conducting usability testing to ensure that the design effectively addresses the needs of the target audience.
Challenge
The main challenge was designing an app that simplifies the often complex process of waste disposal while making it engaging enough to encourage user participation. Additionally, balancing the need for artistic expression with functional waste management tasks posed a unique challenge. The app needed to cater to a wide range of users, including those unfamiliar with sustainable practices, while ensuring the design was intuitive and encouraged regular use.

Ideation
Helps one to find public spaces up for putting up artwork after sanitation.
Information regarding communal spaces and providing easy access to all through simple and verified steps.
Artwork location being shared within the app user for the users to locate and visit them.
Works with the municipal authorities ,connecting the government and artists .
Innovative smart bin systems improving the efficiency of garbage disposal and collection.

Solution
The solution was to create a clean and intuitive interface that streamlined the process of acquiring permissions from owners and local authorities. The key UX solutions included:
Simplified Permission System: The app allows users to request permissions to use public spaces for art projects, streamlining communication with owners and authorities through a simple, digital approval system.
Space Discovery and Networking: The design includes a feature for users to discover available public spaces that allow art installations and to network with other artists and local authorities, creating a collaborative community.
Waste Management Integration: Smart bins are placed in these spaces, and the app helps users locate them easily, ensuring responsible waste disposal. The design ensures these features are seamlessly integrated into the overall experience without distraction from the primary purpose of art creation.
Ongoing Maintenance through Art: The presence of art in these spaces serves as a motivator for keeping the area clean, with users encouraged to engage in regular upkeep and reporting of any issues through an easy-to-use interface.
This approach ensures that the app not only facilitates the creation of public art but also keeps spaces clean and sustainable by integrating waste management and community involvement into the design.
